A meeting on the ongoing activities at the Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU) on electronic government procurement (e-GP) was held with leaders and representatives of the bidding community at the Conference Room of the IME Division at Sher-e-Bangla in the city on Wednesday, January 26, 2011.
Secretary of the IME Division Md Habib Ullah Majumder presided over the meeting. Director General of CPTU Amulya Kumar Debnath, Director Mohammad Yamin Chowdhury and eGP experts of CPTU were present on the occasion.
Leaders of the Bangladesh Association of Construction Industry (BACI), Bangladesh Association of Consulting Engineers (BACE) and Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), among others, attended the meeting.
They inquired about the security aspect of the electronic procurement process. The CPTU experts and officials explained to the bidding community leaders that the latest version of intrusion detection system (IDS) and intrusion prevention system would be used to restrict all unauthorized access to the e-GP system. Moreover, the data will be stored in encrypted format using the latest technologies as specified in ICT Act of the country.
The bidding community members were apprised of the registration process for the bidders with the e-GP system. They were also taken to the Central Data Center established at CPTU for e-GP operation. They appreciated the CPTU preparations to introduce e-tendering initially in the 17 procuring entities including CPTU of the government.
